# Auto data deletion

Retention periods are based on creation date. If a retention policy of 180 days is set, videos are deleted after 180 days. Deleted data cannot be recovered. To set up data deletion rules, follow these steps:&#x20;

1. Go to settings -> security.&#x20;
2. Enter the number of days for the deletion period.
